During his keynote, Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS Vice President for Agentic AI, highlighted that agentic AI is ushering in a transformative era. “It’s a tectonic change,” he explained, stressing that AI agents—autonomous systems capable of reasoning, planning, and adapting independently—are reshaping the very fabric of software design, operations, and user interactions.
The cornerstone of AWS’s announcement, AgentCore, is specifically engineered to bridge the gap between AI experiments and fully scalable, production-ready deployments. Companies increasingly exploring agentic AI have often struggled with ensuring robust security, reliable governance, and seamless integration. AgentCore directly addresses these challenges by providing comprehensive, composable services that streamline the path from concept to large-scale application.
AgentCore offers a suite of essential tools to support various stages of AI agent development:
AgentCore Runtime: This powerful runtime environment manages both short-term interactions and long-duration tasks (up to eight hours), ensuring security through isolated agent sessions. It remains framework-agnostic, accommodating diverse AI approaches.
AgentCore Memory: Recognizing that effective AI agents must mimic human cognitive abilities, this tool provides advanced short-term and long-term memory solutions, enabling context-rich, accurate agent interactions.
AgentCore Identity: Secure authentication is paramount for AI agents accessing sensitive resources. AgentCore Identity integrates seamlessly with popular identity providers like Amazon Cognito, Microsoft Entra ID, and Okta, ensuring secure and compliant access management.
AgentCore Gateway: To interact effectively with external resources and APIs, agents require secure and flexible tool integration. AgentCore Gateway provides exactly this, transforming APIs and Lambda functions into easily discoverable, secure agent-compatible tools.
AgentCore Code Interpreter: To execute complex tasks, agents must securely interpret and run code in isolated sandbox environments. AWS’s solution allows precise customization of security and computing requirements to ensure compliance and performance.

Beyond these core services, AWS announced the launch of AI Agents and Tools in AWS Marketplace, a comprehensive platform where customers can easily discover, procure, deploy, and manage third-party AI agent solutions. Additionally, AWS committed another significant investment of $100 million into its Generative AI Innovation Center, dedicated to assisting customers and partners globally in overcoming challenges related to implementing AI at scale.
