According to Downdetector, which tracks service disruptions, the issue peaked at 7:55 p.m. ET, when 366,172 users in the United States reported problems. Users in multiple other countries also reported issues, indicating the outage was widespread.
In a post on X, Google spokesperson Dwight Harvey initially acknowledged the problem, stating, “We’re aware that some of you are experiencing issues watching videos on YouTube right now. We’re investigating the issue and will update the thread here with the latest. Really appreciate your patience.”
A short time later, Harvey followed up to confirm the fix: “Confirming this is resolved across all YouTube services. Thanks again for your patience!”
